The Atlantic writes about “Compassion Fatigue,” which is a very real problem. And it’s not the only one. Treating medical providers as concierge service and indentured servants is not new, and not just a US issue. Should people who refuse to follow science be allowed to claim the benefits of this science if they are in danger of losing their lives? What about SARS-CoV-2? Or obesity and Type 2 Diabetes?

We will start IVs and give medicines and intubate patients no matter what bumper sticker is on their car. We are holding up our end of a bargain with society. But is society fulfilling its end?
