Morning walk from Cirueña

Burgos
Home of El Cid (1043-1099, real name Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar), the war hero, knight, and apparently pretty asshole ruler of the area.

Fires
The wildfires turn the sky so blood red, sunrises look amazing. If you don't know, what the underlying cause (smoke, particles) is, at least. It'll be a 42°C (107 °F) scorcher today, so we're already three hours in, on today's walk.

Day 2: To Zubiri
It's been a downhill day to Zubiri. The air is nice, weather perfect, and we're walking with Manuel, the head of Infectious Diseases for the Canary Islands. So, yeah, great day.

Muxia, Spain
Named after the monks ("munkes") who settled this area after a Roman settlement and military camp had already occupied it, Muxia is the quieter of the two final stops on the Caminos. Unlike Finisterre's "happy and powerhouse" vibe, the black rocks, angry sea, and tranquil town, provide a place to contemplate and relax.
